System Administrator – Cloud/Hadoop

Our multi-national client uses a very powerful combination of software intelligence and rich data to stop online fraud.They seek a Systems Administrator to work out of our head office in Cork, Ireland.
What you’ll do.
You will be working with some of the latest tools and a great team of software and QA engineers. We don’t have a bias to any tool or technology type.
You will work with the engineering team to design, build and monitor our cloud infrastructure that supports our entire platform and business, from .NET Cloud Services, Haproxy load balancers, distributed database systems like Riak and eco-systems such as Hadoop with tools such as Apache Drill, SploutSQL, Kafka etc. You will have a strongknowledge of *nix based system and be comfortable learning new technologies such as Hadoop.
What you are.
You enjoy working with a SCRUM team of engineers, QA, product managers and other systems administrators where skill-sets are interchangeable. We build our solutions in a collaborative way and you enjoy teaching and learning new skills with other team members.
If you can bring experience of automation tools such as Chef, Puppet, Vagrant etc, that would be a big +.
The basic requirements :
Cloud experience – you have provisioned production infrastructure in Azure or AWS, from CentOS to Windows Servers and cloud services.
Hadoop eco-systems experience and/or the tools involved such as HDFS, Hive, Zookeeper etc.
Powershell / Bash Scripting – you can move between MS and *nix scripting technologies easily.
Use of Source Control systems – TFS, GitHub etc.
(but you may have worked with similar tools, that’s cool also)
– be part of our development team while building and maintaining the core infrastructure
– Build highly scalable, fault tolerant elastic infrastructure to support our customer’s demands
– Ensure proper testing and automation of all aspects of our infrastructure
– Drive efficiency within systems by properly utilizing and managing capacity planning, resource planning and budgets
